Take a break

Often times, more than others, I think of having me-time as a waste of time. I think having me-time takes away work-time and productivity and time to reach my deadlines.
I also forget that allowing myself some self-care today makes me be on my A-game tomorrow.

Even if you feel like you can’t afford to take a rest or to take a break from work, your household, your kids, your life. It’s a necessity to do so! You can’t go on until you collapse. I know you want to spend time on your goals and future, your work and making an effort to get to where you want to be in life. But it’s not possible if you work 24/7 and let your battery run out of energy like that. You need to recharge your energy levels. The only way you can do this is to take a break from time to time.
If you’re a planner like me, you might even want to schedule some weekly me-time in your planner.

You’re a human being, your name is not Alexa or Siri (I’m sorry if it is, in that case you’re still human!)
You are allowed to rest, you are allowed to breathe, you are allowed to spend some time doing what you want just because you want to do it, not because you’re getting something materialistic out of it.
Because we live in a society where materialism is a priority, we often forget that to achieve wealth, success and abundance, we also need energy, health and a clear mind. We can’t achieve the latter by working until we can’t get out of bed anymore.

Allowing yourself a breather does not make you a lazy person. It makes you someone who is self-loving.

It doesn’t matter how much you want to achieve success and how many things you would do to reach your goals and dreams, sometimes the way to do this isn’t only working around the clock. It’s allowing yourself to take a step back. This way you’ll be able to find solutions to the problems your facing, to find yourself in a better place the next day and to help yourself further with full capacity.
Taking a break doesn’t mean you’re not going after your dreams or it doesn’t make you not deserving of success. It makes you a human being who allows herself to have a balance between work and self-care.

If you ever find yourself neglecting your health by not giving yourself a break, it can result into having a burn out, depression or just an empty energy level where you will probably take longer to get out of than allowing yourself some me-time each week. This way you’ll be more likely to achieve the things you want to during the week. Most of the times even, when we work hard non-stop, we tend to forget important things and are being way less productive than if we would allow ourselves a break every once in a while.

You deserve your rest. You are good enough. You work hard enough. You accomplish many great things. Taking care of ourselves is not a waste of time, it’s necessary in our lives. You are allowed to take a bath. Watching series on a Sunday afternoon doesn’t make you a lazy person. You are allowed to sleep.

I know success requires lots of hard work and effort. It requires us to be productive and ambitious. And being ambitious and taking care of ourselves is often something that society separated for us in the media, but let’s face it: you need to start taking care of yourself in order to live the life you dream of.

Take care of yourself and allow yourself to have fun and to take a break every once in a while.
