10 simple ways to give yourself more love

On some days, it’s just not very easy to love yourself.

I made a list to live by with 10 simple ways to give yourself more love on a bad day or even a bad period in your life.

1. Cut out toxic people.

Take a look at the people around you. Who are they? What feeling to they leave you with? Are they your support group or do they bring you down. Maybe they acted this way for as long as you’ve known them for. But it’s important to look at them with a fresh eye. It’s important that you surround yourself with people you can count on, people who not only talk to you, but also listen to you.

Friendships are relationships too. And they end every day. If they don’t add to your value, or they don’t help you to be the best version of yourself, they are probably not good for you. It’s okay to let them go.

2. Listen to your body.

When you feel tired, it’s probably because you are. If you’re craving chocolate and you ate the whole bar, don’t punish yourself. If you took a 3 hour long nap in the afternoon, you’re not being lazy.
Don’t punish yourself for the taking care of your body, even when it’s pretty hard with society making sure you’re being productive every second of the day.
It’s okay to log off for a day or two. It’s okay to take a nap. It’s definitely okay to take care of yourself and the best thing you can do is give your body whatever it needs.

3. Say no.

It’s your decision to do whatever you want, and it’s your privilege to say no. You should only do things if you really want to, not because someone else is expecting them from you or because they are pressuring you. This is your life, and your life only!

4. Allow yourself a self-care moment each day.

For me, it’s yoga and meditation. It helps me channel my anger and the tension in my body. It makes me aware and live in the present moment. It helps my inspiration and energy flow. It makes me feel better afterwards. I feel like my battery is recharged every time I do yoga or meditate. But it doesn’t have to be yoga or meditation for you, it can also be knitting, cleaning, painting,..
The important thing is that you prioritize yourself and let yourself unwind at least once a day.

5. Have a good work/life balance.

Being self employed has made it possible for me to work 18 hours a day if I want to. The only thing is that you can’t keep up with that. At one point you’ll collapse and you’ll be out for days or even weeks.
The best thing is to have a healthy work/life balance. This way it will keep you motivated, inspired and ambitious and you’ll also be in perfect alignment with your body and soul.

6. Don’t compare yourself to others.

They are not you. They may have a happy and fulfilling life, but you focusing on them won’t leave you behind with a happy and fulfilling life either. When you stop focusing and comparing yourself to others, you’ll feel like there’s more space to develop your own journey in life. You’ll start feeling happier and more fulfilled. You’ll start making yourself proud on your own path in life instead of wanting to replicate someone else’s.

Don’t miss out on your life. Live it!

7.  Believe in yourself.

Life is a playground. Anything is possible in life. We were given this life to make the best of it. Compared to the world’s existence, we’re here for a pretty short time. We can make anything possible if you have the right mindset, which is believing that you CAN.
You’re worthy of this life, of love, of big things!

8. Write a feel good list.

Make up a list of all the achievements you’re proud of, your talents, your best qualities. Read it every single day to remind yourself of how amazing you are.

9. Find guidance with experts.

I found strength in listening to people who have been there. Who have gone through what I went through. I found guidance in books written by people who knew what they were talking about. I listened to talks and therapy sessions given by people who went through terrible things in life. It gave me motivation to go on and I was motivated to develop this strong person I was all along but neglected in the process of going through awful life happenings.

10. Stand up for yourself.

Defend yourself when you need to. Don’t take anyone’s shit. Even if you’re a quiet, shy person, doesn’t mean that people should take you for granted. You are worthy! You have the right to stand up for whatever you believe in, to stand up for your own worth. You have the right to stand up for yourself if someone isn’t treating you well. You are you!

Remember that it’s okay to have bad days. Everyone has them. I always made it through a bad day, a bad period and even a bad year. So can you!
